When starting the program, I had no idea what it was going to be, but my goal was to reclaim myself, my body, my heart and my thoughts, which run away, and to align with my soul, all of those to be aligned. I hoped this program would help me to understand what was standing between me and my best and most vibrant health, why I have been so overweight, why I prefer to pull inward than reach out into the world, why my energy doesn’t often match my will, why my shortness of breath comes and pounding heart for no reason whatsoever, why I have pain and fatigue and how to navigate finding my voice again.

About 30 years ago, when my health took a deep dive down, I lost my ability to sing, almost overnight. My throat became tight and sick and my heart and soul disconnected from my body. I had had a medical trauma and another emotionally devastating trauma that happened in quick succession at that time, which I believed was the start of everything health-wise for me. All at once, my life changed. I changed. My body changed. My world got smaller as I pulled in and tried to salvage what little control I felt I had. Confused and devastated, I didn’t know how to gather myself back up and heal. I sought help from the medical field and came away with several diagnoses, but no real relief, except for from you, Dr. Kelly.

The Unforgetting Project provided a different lens. This powerful, intimate process has given me what I’ve been longing for: an understanding and awareness of the many layers of emotions below the symptoms, long-buried truths and stories that have informed and sustained my pain. From The Unforgetting Project, I have become aware that I hold the key to unlocking myself and reclaiming my body, my mind, heart, soul and my voice.

I’ve come to know that my body loves me, that it’s been trying to communicate with me, to contact me, connect with me, to help me see what I have been carrying around that does not serve me. The Unforgetting Project has helped me to see that a fair amount of my suffering and illness has been my body trying to tell me to sort out and release what isn’t mine, to process ancestral trauma, other people’s feelings and energies as an empath.

The Unforgetting Project has shown me the path and the map to the treasure that is me, right here in my body. I feel I’m healing every day. I feel different because of this program.

Working with Dr. McCann has felt like a true homecoming to my body, my soul, and my deeper purpose. When I first came to her, I was struggling with physical symptoms that felt disconnected and overwhelming. What I didn’t realize was how much my body was holding old emotions, beliefs, and patterns that kept me distant from my own inner wisdom.
Dr. McCann helped me understand the connection between my thoughts, feelings, and physical health. Through her compassionate and insightful guidance, I began to release what no longer served me and reconnect with the part of myself that had gone quiet under years of stress and survival.

As I shifted my internal landscape, my body began to heal. My energy became steadier, inflammation decreased, and my overall wellbeing improved. More importantly, I began to feel aligned again and more connected to who I truly am and why I am here.

Working with Dr. McCann has shown me that healing can be both science-based and deeply spiritual. She creates a space where transformation feels grounded, safe, and profoundly meaningful. I am grateful for her guidance and highly recommend her to anyone seeking healing that touches both the body and the soul.

I’ve approached this course with complete eagerness and openness, but it wasn’t easy for me.

And then I read the title of our Week 8 homework, and I felt I had failed. It said, ‘Honoring Your Transformation.’ Transformation didn’t happen for me, even though I really, really wanted it to, especially the A-plus, always-needs-to-succeed, results-oriented me.

What am I supposed to report?

Well, here’s what I can share. I have an immense amount of respect for Dr. McCann and the work she does. From the first time I saw the announcement about The Unforgetting Project, I knew I wanted to participate, especially when I saw the line, ‘It’s about remembering who you’ve always been.’

And I thought, there’s such a thing as a remembered self, and we can remember it, and it’s our true self. It’s who we are beyond our mind, body, or emotions.

I want that.

I definitely have more work to do, but at least I have even more tools and resources to guide me now.

For example, in Week 3, Dr. McCann mentioned that our remembered self is the spark that keeps you moving forward.

Wow. I know there’s a spark there in me. It’s simmering. I didn’t realize this before, or even know what it was, and I’m paying more attention to it now.

Dr. McCann also introduced our inner counselor to us, and writing with my non-dominant hand caused a patience with and clarity of thought which my impatient and busy mind didn’t expect at all.

In Week 7, I took time to review the illness-as-a-metaphor list by Louise Hay and incorporated one new thought pattern. It was related to a releasing or dumping ground. And that thought pattern is, ‘I easily and comfortably release that which I no longer need in life.’

In Week 8, the realization arrived that if a step feels incomplete, it is for a reason. It reminded me that I have to dig deeper, or sit longer, or journal that much more.

Will I ever get to my remembered self? And if, when I do, how will I know it? Is it even a place to arrive to? Then what?

Will I ever know what complete is?

I’m a beginner.

For me, even though I wanted the transformation, I have to learn to be in the kiddie pool with several floaties on, and I’m okay with it.

The spark of my remembered self is in there. I know it.

After working with Dr. Kelly for years and finally healing from years of chronic illness (I had pretty much every symptom under the sun), I went through a period of unbelievable joy and elation for a few months. I had all of these wonderful emotional, energetic and spiritual techniques that had helped me heal and that I continued to use regularly to stay healthy and continue working on my healing and personal growth. I was so grateful to be alive and able to live my life normally for the first time in years. Everything was beautiful and full of love for me! However, the period of elation started to fade. Even though I had grown so much over the course of my illness and the healing period, even though I still regularly used all of the energetic, emotional and spiritual healing techniques that I had used to help myself heal, there were still some stubborn physical symptoms that were not improving. They were not affecting my daily life and I was continuing to grow stronger and healthier each day, so I figured those symptoms would eventually improve, as well. I also started having intense anxiety. Sometimes just in the morning, sometimes all day long. I would have days of intense depression, as well, where I felt hopeless and scared and full of grief. And no matter what I did, no matter which of my tried-and-true emotional/energetic/spiritual healing techniques I used, I was still having these episodes and those stubborn symptoms. After this went on for about a year and half, I slowly realized that something was missing in my healing. I started to recognize patterns that I had with friends and family that didn’t make sense for me with my new lease on life, but no matter how much I tried to clear these patterns, they were still there, permeating my everyday life. I still feared those around me. Still had so much trouble trusting in myself, in my loved ones, in the Universe. After all I’d been through and all of the work I’d done to heal my mind and body, I still found myself scared and guarded around other people, even those I was close with. I was replaying interactions over and over again afterwards. I had immense fear before out-of-the-ordinary interactions or events. I started a new career where I was seeing clients, and I worried frantically before every session and then continued to worry afterwards. I was waking up each morning with intense anxiety and having a couple days a month where I was so depressed I couldn’t stop crying. Old and new hurts and old harmful beliefs about myself that I’d worked on clearing many times before still felt so raw sometimes, like they were still pervading my everyday life in big ways. This after having survived and healed from years of debilitating chronic illness! I knew I was missing something. I felt it. I just didn’t feel like doing all the normal techniques I had done before. It just didn’;t feel right anymore. And when I did some of them just to try help myself, just to try to shift something, it didn’t feel as effective as it had in the past. So, I decided to wait and let things flow, knowing from my healing experience and my spiritual practice that the answer would come along eventually and I’d know it when it did. That’s when The Unforgetting Project came along. As soon as I read the first email, it felt like the missing piece. My spirit guides sounded the alarm too, and I signed up as soon as I could. I came into TUP hoping to shift these old harmful beliefs and stories about myself, about not being good enough, about blaming myself for everything, about fears related to my interactions with people in my life. I was hoping to also shift the anxiety and depression, as well as the stubborn physical symptoms that lingered.

After the first class, I realized right away that the techniques I had been using all these years to clear emotions and low-vibrational energy from my body, although very helpful in many ways (I had healed significantly already and had grown in numerous ways using these techniques), were focusing more on “getting the emotions/energy out”, rather than allowing myself to truly feel all of the emotions that were stuck inside me – emotions that I have come to realize I have been too afraid to really feel, emotions that wanted so badly to really be felt but which I have become very good at suppressing. All this time I’d just wanted to “get it out” so I could heal, and often I would feel things very strongly while doing many of these techniques, but I realized now that was more of a byproduct rather than the goal. I wasn’t seeing the emotions and their energy as something essential to our beings, something that makes us who we are, and therefore something that needs and deserves time to be deeply felt and experienced. And in the intentional experiencing and feeling, the emotions/energy finally get a chance to do what they were meant to do for us, and there is a completion. Not a “leaving”, as if they shouldn’t be there, but a completion of something natural and necessary. And in each completion, we come back to ourselves more and more, and with that, all parts of ourselves are healed because we are “unforgetting” the beings of love and light that we all truly are.

Another turning point was while doing one of the earlier homework assignments when we were in chairs with ourselves, exploring emotions in one chair and being our own inner counselor in the other. I really had an epiphany about how little love and compassion I give myself because the moment I switched to the inner counselor chair and told myself that I was here, that I could understand how hard things have been for me, I felt this sob of relief come out of me, like the expressing part of me was so relieved that it was being supported/loved by me. Being heard. Being seen. I realized that, despite all of the energy work and emotional clearing work I’ve done over the years, my goal was rarely, if ever, to just allow myself to feel deeply and completely without judgement or holding back and to love myself while doing it. I wasn’t usually loving, appreciating, welcoming or encouraging the feeling part of me, and the vulnerable parts inside of me could feel that and felt unsupported and unloved. My whole upbringing taught me that expressing anything but happiness and doing whatever kept people from getting mad me was the only way to stay safe, so I learned to fear feeling any strong feelings that might upset someone or make me a target. It just wasn’t safe to do so. And in this homework assignment, my emotional self was so relieved to be listened to with love and compassion, and without fear of judgement. Then, after a few weeks of class, I found myself noticing more and more when I changed myself around someone. When I feared interaction. When I felt uncomfortable feeling an emotion. I realized how this had been my normal for so long, but I was so good at ignoring it. I had been ignoring it since I was a child to survive. I knew there was a shift in my awareness that I’d never had before. I realized how often I ignore my feelings completely (maybe not ignore, probably more like automatically suppress) because I gradually started noticing subtle feelings of fear, anger, shame, etc in non- emotionally charged moments (normal everyday moments basically) more and more, and realizing that they’d always been there in day to day moments/experiences before, I was just so good at suppressing or ignoring them that it seemed like they weren’t there.

After a few weeks into the course, I noticed I was having less severe anxiety and depression than I’d been having. It was still there on certain days, but it was softer, less intense. I realized that it wasn’t happening quite so frequently as before, as well. But most importantly, when it does happen, I can now view it as a message from my higher self that something wants to be felt, rather than viewing it as something to fear. I take the time to listen and find out what emotions are waiting to be felt. I allow myself to feel.

And I know that in doing so, I will continue to see progress with this as well as other imbalances. I find myself saying things to my husband that I didn’t say before like “I can’t help how I feel about it, and this is how I feel right now”, and I wouldn’t usually have said things like before unless it just kind of exploded out of me. I feel less afraid to express the “scary” emotions, although I realize that I am still learning how to fully and completely express them without holding back. That may take me a little more time to learn, but I am learning how to notice when I’m holding back. I am noticing more and more when I hide who I am in order to please someone, when I’m using a voice that is not really mine. I recognize that I still have more to learn and understand about myself while doing this work, but it doesn’t feel daunting or confusing – it just feels like an unfolding that is happening at its own, necessary pace.

I have learned that emotions are not something to fear, and that I really have been fearing them all along. I learned that expressing emotions as a means to an end has held me back from the deeper healing that I knew I hadn’t reached yet. I am learning to welcome and support the expression of my emotions, to love and appreciate their expression as an essential part of who I am.

The Unforgetting Project is a program that teaches you that those symptoms in your body or mind are simply messages from your body, which is actually the voice of your unbelievably wise and strong inner/higher self. And that voice badly wants to express, to feel, to be heard. I felt that the goal in The Unforgetting Project is to listen to the messages our bodies are trying to tell us through symptoms. Those messages are unfelt and unexpressed emotions inside us that are suppressing the healthy balance of our physical and emotional body. If we can receive those messages, finding out what emotions are dying to be truly felt – and then we can allow ourselves to really, truly feel all that which has been suppressed – then we can heal. We can “unforget” who we have always been – beings of love and light who are meant to feel and experience deeply in all of the ways that make each and every one of us unique.

The Unforgetting Project came to me at such a perfect time in my life. Having used many different types of emotional and energetic release techniques in order to help heal my body and mind, I can confidently say that what this program teaches has been a missing piece to my puzzle. Actually, it has shown me that I’m not a puzzle at all, which is a blessing and a healing all on its own! Instead of seeking out emotional energy to just get rid of so that my body can heal, the program is helping me to relearn how to truly support, feel and appreciate the emotions that are desperately trying to be heard through mind/body symptoms and imbalances. The difference may sound subtle but it’s huge. By tuning into my body and welcoming the emotions to be truly felt without judgement or restrictions, I feel like I’m finally giving my body, my self, the love that it needs to heal deeply and completely. This self love and acceptance was something that I was not able to truly feel for myself before joining this program, and it is such a precious gift. I truly believe that this program has taken me to the next level in my mind/body healing journey, and I am so very grateful.”

I joined the Unforgetting Project expecting to attend a lecture series, and in hope of getting a glimpse into Dr. McCann’s work that I know she dedicated many years to. What I did not expect was how quickly the experience became deeply personal. In the very first week, I found myself crying so intensely that I could barely speak in front of two people I had just met. I had joined the program believing there was nothing in particular that needed healing—I considered myself to be relatively healthy. Yet as I sat in that first session, unfamiliar emotions began to surface, and for the first time I realized how disconnected I had been from myself. The constant need to keep up with life had caused me to lose touch with myself. As I began this process, I realized I was not as “okay” as I had believed. Physical sensations that I had long ignored—the tightness in my chest, the rising heat in my neck and jaw, the coldness in my hands and feet—were all messages my body had been trying to send. Beneath it all, I was harboring resentment and frustration toward myself and those around me because I had never taken the time to process what was happening within my mind and body, or perhaps I simply did not know how.

With each session and every trio practice, my exploration inward went a little deeper. As I gradually became more comfortable being vulnerable with both myself and others, a turning point came around week four. I learned to forgive myself for the many years of self-judgments and expectations, which I found out started forming when I was only 5.

In that moment, I felt the knot in my stomach loosen and the tightness in my chest and throat began to fade, as though I were releasing the chains I had unknowingly put on myself. Dr. McCann often reminds us that we already have all the tools within ourselves to respond to whatever arises in our bodies, to love ourselves, and ultimately to heal. But at the same time, I like to think of the Unforgetting Project as the key to that toolbox. The tools may have always been there, but this program is the key that allowed me to access them. Without this experience, I don’t think I would have the same connection to my inner, remembered self that I do now. It gave me the space, guidance, and courage to slow down, listen, and reconnect with parts of myself that I have long forgotten. I came to understand that I am my best advocate, and that profound healing begins with taking a moment to feel and acknowledging those feelings, not to jump straight into solving or avoiding. I am proud of myself for showing up and for being open to this process that allowed me to rediscover and reconnect with my remembered self. Thank you to Dr. McCann and everyone for being on this journey with me, sending love and positive energy to you all as we continue this practice. <3

Dr. McCann’s Unforgetting Project has taught me the tools to listen to my body, meet my body with compassion, and remember that I always did and always will have the innate safety and trust in myself to heal, I just forgot about it somewhere along the way of life. She offers a unique and invaluable perspective that makes this program one of a kind. Your body is telling you a story via your symptoms, and Dr. Kelly is helping write that story. I have gained so much perspective and loving presence during this process. The community is truly so special and I thank everyone involved who has helped make this journey truly unforgettable.I will carry what I have learned here forever.

Something I hadn’t done before with this project was identify these themes, these bigger clues on where I needed to do more work. Themes like freedom and fear, things I would have never, ever zeroed in on before. I found that to be really helpful.

The more I got better, the more I realized I wasn’t feeling free in the way that I had hoped. This project helped reignite a new understanding of freedom for me.

I really appreciated this. As far as emotional healing goes, I love tangible things, and this felt more tangible to me than most of the other things I’ve tried.

I didn’t really feel worthy of healing, of being healthy. The idea of being healthy felt out of my reach. I don’t feel like that anymore.

After 16 years of searching for healing—through countless modalities, trainings, and professional experience supporting others with nervous system regulation—I didn’t expect to find something that truly surprised me. But The Unforgetting Project did. What I’ve experienced here goes beyond techniques and tools; it reaches the root in a way that feels simple, direct, and deeply human. Instead of trying to fix myself, I found my body naturally softening, settling, and shifting in ways I hadn’t been able to force before. If you’re living with chronic symptoms and feel exhausted from trying everything, this work offers something different—it helps you reconnect to the part of you that already knows how to heal.

I decided to join Dr Kelly’s Unforgetting Project because I was feeling frustrated with too much to do. I felt overloaded with trying to help others and giving advice. By feeling the anger and tightness in my head and pelvis, I am able to soften and release the tension and turn it into love and peace. I feel calm and not over-reacting to triggers. Now, I am able to see the situation with an open heart and quiet mind and guide myself and others to feeling not advising. I am able to calmly prioritize and let go of some activities so I have time to love! I am excited to continue this wonderful journey! With love and gratitude. PS. Dr Kelly has been guiding me through 20 years of healing!

The Unforgetting Project is extraordinary. Dr. Kelly has created a profound path of healing and remembrance, and I am deeply grateful for her wisdom and guidance.

Through this process, I re-membered who I truly am and I healed. I confronted the stories, released the armor of emotions, and surrendered all beliefs. It was simple, but not easy, and Dr. Kelly held such a sacred and compassionate space for the journey.

In the unforgetting, my body healed and my soul awakened to what it has always been: love. I will forever be grateful for the gift of this work and for Dr. Kelly helping guide me back home to my Self.
Thank you for a life-changing experience.

I believe this process had has made me realize that I should slow down and listen to the cues that my body is sending to me. It knows, it communicates, and it’s intuitive.

I realized there was something within my soul saying, you’ve got to clear out some stuff, girl. I felt there were some deep emotions buried inside that I had never released.

At 71, I realized I was starting to block people, starting to go within, and I thought, my God, you’re blocking yourself from your daughter, you’re blocking yourself from feeling in order to just move through the world.

I felt my body open. Every time we did an exercise, I thought, oh my gosh, I get to cry. I couldn’t cry before unless I was watching something very emotional on TV.

What’s changed is that I’ve become more present and more open with people in my family.

I’m really proud of my courage to move forward, because that very first trio was the hardest. I faced my ego, which was trying to convince me, don’t do that, don’t show them you’re going to be weak. And then I realized, as I was doing this work, that crying, showing my vulnerability, is the most powerful I could be in my life.

I was really blown away from the first class with the feeling of the container, I felt totally held and totally met. In the trios, fairly far into the course, we didn’t necessarily know exactly what we were doing in many cases, but whatever needed to happen seemed to happen. Because the container was so strong, it just worked.

In other groups I’ve been in, I’ve often felt really burdened by the suffering I feel in the group, and I’ve been triggered by it. I didn’t find that here. Being in a group with people who have the same issues, I can say POTS, and people immediately know what I’m talking about, that was really quite amazing for me. I felt met in a really different way.

When you feel broken, and when you see people struggling with these issues, it’s quite powerful to have that resource and support. I finish every class feeling a spark of hope.

My big turning point was the self-judgment. I knew I had expectations of myself, I knew I had self-sabotage patterns, but they seemed to be getting more and more entrenched the more tools I used. This work basically unblocked me.

It’s like I had this inner taskmaster completely running the show, and a 13-year-old rebelling and refusing to do the things, this really unpleasant tug of war inside me. Doing this work has calmed all of that down. The taskmaster is not as loud. The rebellion suddenly disappeared.

What I really needed was something that wasn’t telling me: fix this, fix that, tweak your nervous system this way. That’s really what I needed.

I don’t say this with ego, but those who have suffered greatly, you are the chosen ones. There’s so much wisdom that comes from suffering.

I really appreciated the structure. It was very niche and authentic, it didn’t move around and pander to other programs. The hardest thing was being forced to just sit with yourself, to be with yourself in front of people you don’t know. That caused the most growth for people. It’s so unique, it doesn’t exist anywhere else that I’ve seen.

The last couple of sessions, I’ve felt more gratitude for my body, for the journey, actual shots of what Eckhart Tolle calls the joy of being, that state of peace. Living and being aware of that joy is something I just haven’t done before. When we do get those gaps of peace in between the suffering, we need to really acknowledge them, be with them. That’s where living truly is, in that present moment.

Working with Dr. Kelly McCann has been one of the most precise and compassionate experiences of my healing journey. She carries an extraordinary depth of knowledge — environmental illness, chronic and complex conditions, and the leading edge of integrative medicine — yet what makes her exceptional is how intuitively she meets you where you are.

I often arrived overwhelmed with symptoms and confusion, and she could immediately attune, organize the picture, and offer the exact next step. She never gave too much too soon, and never too little — her pacing was perfect. From the early days when my body couldn’t tolerate even a binder, to years later when deeper emotional patterns emerged and my journey shifted toward individuation and self-actualization, she knew how to guide each phase with clarity and respect. Her background in individuation work made that transition especially meaningful and grounded.

Dr. Kelly has a rare ability to calibrate medical insight, emotional intelligence, and compassion with precision. She sees the whole person, honors the process, and offers guidance that feels both wise and deeply human.

She is a physician who helps people not only heal, but remember who they truly are — making The Unforgetting Project a powerful reflection of her gifts.

I’ve tried everything on this healing journey over the past almost 15 years. I remember sharing in one of my very first trios that the symptom coming up was that my head felt so warm — so hot — and my body was so cold. When I sat with that for a moment, it felt like a computer on overdrive: my head was carrying everything that my body was begging it to feel instead. This program has really helped me tap into that. I still felt, coming into this program, a lot of uneasiness, a lot of anxiety — still rushing through everything, almost trying to perform to perfection. And I felt like if I wasn’t 100% symptom-free, I wasn’t done yet. Instead, it was just my body trying to tell me: it’s right here, you have it within you. You need to honor yourself. I needed to honor my true, authentic self rather than the person I was raised to be, or society told me to be. When I really tapped into what my body was trying to tell me, I uncovered so many things. My symptoms of anxiety, unease, worry, and fear about the future have completely dissipated. I’m not seeing the symptoms that pop up as something I need to fix or get rid of — but as an invitation to feel and tap into my authentic self. I welcome them now. I get curious and excited when something comes up. Recently, a family member told me to ‘lock it up’ when I was crying tears of joy at a family function. In the past, I would have done exactly that. Instead, I just said, ‘No, this is what I’m feeling right now.’ And it felt so freeing and so authentic — probably one of the first times in my life. The one thing that kept coming up as I reflected on this program: I AM the love I have always so deeply been searching for. Everything I need is already within me.

I joined The Unforgetting Project because I think the last few years, I’ve been feeling a lot more detached from my body…this was me trying to return to myself, in a way, and it was very special being able to talk to my inner child. I didn’t expect to be able to connect on such a deep level. It was very grounding and very moving. I’ve like done EMDR therapy, and that provides, like, a different lens, but I feel like in The Unforgetting Project, you really get to hold yourself, and I think it’s really special. I think we’re able to hold other people really well, but there’s not as many times when you’re as gracious and patient with yourself.

A big thing I noticed for myself is I let myself feel things, but I put almost like an alarm clock on it. I’m like, Okay, you have 10 to 15 minutes to feel this, and then we’re going to, like, wrap it up because you have something else to do after. And what I learned is the reflection period, that three minutes of reflection afterwards is very, very important to really feel it and understand it. And I think that was particularly valuable for me, so really wonderful.

When I came to Dr. Kelly as a new patient, I’d endured decades of chronic pain and complex illness. I regularly tuned into health summits, listened to podcasts, read the latest literature and took a laundry list of supplements. I was the expert of my own health—or so I thought.

But why then, after 11 surgeries and years of biohacking my health, wasn’t I seeing the progress I longed for? The progress I knew was possible? The work of the Unforgetting Project held that answer, and was the missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle that is my health.

Dr. Kelly gently and compassionately guided me to look at my symptoms as messages, rather than my body’s rebellion—as I’d spent my life doing. This simple shift made a world of difference, and opened me up to deep soul-level work that was intricately linked to my physical symptoms.

Rather than viewing my body, spirit, thoughts and emotions as separate entities, I learned a new way. I spent far too long feeling broken, but in unforgetting the core of who I was created to be, by discarding the thought patterns and beliefs that no longer served me, and by embracing and unifying all the fragments of my being, I found a wholeness I had spent my life searching for.

This isn’t another program or protocol—it’s a framework for stepping into complete transformation!

I have grown through this process. I feel like I can truly be myself and express myself in this community of like minded people, where I just see so many parallels amongst everyone, and I just feel like we can all relate in such a way. And I think that’s been one of the most amazing parts of the program is having this community that where we don’t feel so alone.

I’m just so thankful to you for, like, developing this framework, because as someone who is very, you know, black and white at times, like, it is really helpful to have a roadmap of, like, how to start this process.

I just really appreciate how brave everyone has been, and I guess even myself, because it is not my first inclination to just open up and be unprepared. So it has been a pleasure, and I can’t thank you enough. You are truly an angel on Earth, Dr McCann.

The program was really special to me because there was a community that you followed through for all this week, and it built. One layer on top of the other was peeled. So that was really it was really special. I looked forward to coming to the program. A lot of programs, they’ve been in on, you know, just on Zoom or whatever, there’s no draw magnet to it, because there’s no community. And that was huge for for me personally. So thank you for that.

I definitely would say that I’m more grounded in my body and that I’m forgiving myself for you know Tina Lowe that took on for 25 years, caring journey and not have the tools that I needed. And it, you know, it just is. It is. It took a load of making me really unhealthy to finally stop and say, I don’t want this anymore. So, so, but within you know, it’s been January, so I just feel, I feel I’m not going back to the issues that I had before. I’m not going I’m not acknowledging the illness that I had before. It’s really It’s pretty amazing.

My intention for joining was to feel more embodied. I used to feel this tightness in my throat and just reject it. Through this program I’ve learned to listen to it more deeply and see what’s behind it. I was scared I wasn’t going to do it right, that nothing would come up. But I’d be surprised every week by how much actually did. I learned that feeling the feelings actually wasn’t as bad as I thought. It crescendos and then it dissolves into something, like it’s showing you something profound. I don’t need to be scared of my feelings, I can feel them, and it’s a way home back to myself.

I never knew who Dr. McCann was. I’d been going through a lot of health issues, and someone in my life noticed I wasn’t well and encouraged me, generously, to see Dr. McCann and to join this program. In one of my trios, I remember realizing for the first time ever that I’ve got me. I don’t have to rely on another person in order to survive. I realized life is intended to be soft, not hard. This group has shown me how to breathe again, in so many different ways.

The words ‘your symptoms are not obstacles, they’re information’ just spoke to me. I realized that my symptoms, which had been treated as mast cell activation, were coming from holding in emotions. One of my biggest turning points was realizing that your feelings don’t mean you don’t care about or love a situation or a person. Your feelings are just your feelings, they don’t have to reflect on anybody. I felt that in my core, and in a calmness in my whole body. Now I more often just stop and ask, what’s my body saying, what does it need? What I really needed wasn’t to be agreed with, I needed to know I was heard, to listen to what I needed and feel what I needed, and then honor that.

I now know how many layers of emotion and trauma I’ve had stuck in my muscles, my bones, my tendons, my neck and shoulders, my heart, even my blood. I can trace all of it to symptoms and diagnoses. But the exciting thing is I now know how to heal this. This ongoing emergency mode, this hypervigilance, is what keeps my mast cells on call. Some of the most wonderful moments in this program helped me get back to five, six, seven, twelve-year-old parts of myself that I’d shut down because it wasn’t safe to feel them before. It’s really important to see and honor and feel my feelings from a long time ago to now, because if I’m carrying them, I still have them. Self-love is the medicine. It heals.

My healing journey has felt frustratingly slow. I had hoped to be feeling much better physically by now. At the same time, I try to live with the belief that life happens for you, not to you. When the opportunity to take this class arose, it almost felt divinely timed, and I viewed it as a meaningful opportunity for support and healing, so I signed up.

One of the things I appreciated most about this class was the participants. Every person brought so much of themselves to the work, and I learned something meaningful from each of my trio partners, whether it was a small technique, a new perspective, or an unexpected insight.

One moment that especially stood out to me was when one of my trio mates shared that she had spent the day crying and watching animal videos. That was a major aha moment for me, because I realized that is something I can do too. I think there is so much unresolved pain inside of me that I do not necessarily need to anchor it to a specific place in my body. I simply need to open the floodgates and allow the feelings to flow. It feels as though my emotions have been trapped behind a beaver dam. First I need to loosen and break apart the dam, then I can begin exploring the subtleties of where those emotions live in my body.

I am most proud of myself for allowing myself to cry in front of other people. That is incredibly rare for me, and I want to thank everyone in the group for helping create such a beautiful, safe, and nonjudgmental space.

The hardest week for me was the one in which we worked with our younger selves. That is a place I never want to go, and I honor myself for having the courage to do it. And apparently, I survived. That experience showed me that I can go there again.

The biggest truth I am walking away with is that I now have tools I did not have before, and I truly believe they hold great value.

So much has shifted inside of me. The main thing I never realized was that I was always upset with my body, like, why are you doing this to me? That’s not the case at all anymore. I’m so grateful for my body now, it’s cluing me into so much, helping me release so much, talking to me. Triggers aren’t triggering me anymore, which is crazy amazing. My roommate noticed something had changed in me before I even told her why.

I caught myself the other day about to react in a way that would hurt myself and the people around me. It was like a trio moment, but I was in every role. The outcome was different this time, I was actually able to be there for myself, the way we’ve been practicing in this program. It was something so small, I messed up an order, and in that moment I asked myself those companion questions, sat with it, and observed it. It was really magical.

A really big piece for me was around self-judgment. I was shocked at how present it was, and doing the exercises freed me up to do so much more of what I actually want to be doing, instead of self-sabotaging. This time especially, I’m much more physically and energetically grounded. I used to un-ground constantly, I’d go to bed grounded and wake up ungrounded. Now I feel more spiritually connected, more alive, which is something I’d lost through long COVID. I always treated feeling emotional as an inconvenience. Now I have a tool. It’s so simple, you sit down and spend time noticing what’s going on internally, but it’s very powerful.
