Most programs pick their length because of convenience: six weeks, eight weeks, twelve weeks.

Nine isn’t convenient. It’s intentional.

I chose nine weeks in part because I knew it was a spiritual number, however, it wasn’t until I investigated more deeply, how universal the number nine is across healing systems, religious traditions, medicine, numerology, mythology, and philosophy.

What surprised and delighted me, is that almost every tradition that explores human transformation gives special significance to nine.

The truth is:

Nine is the number of completion.

And of rebirth.

And of remembering.

And of returning to yourself.

Which makes it the perfect length for the Unforgetting Project.

This page explains why.

Nine Mirrors the Body’s Own Wisdom

Let’s start with the physical body — the world you and I both live in professionally.

Human life begins in a nine-month cycle.

A complete arc of becoming.

A full transformation from potential into form.

If you’ve worked in medicine long enough, you see this pattern everywhere:

  • The nervous system shifts in cycles ~9–10 weeks
  • Immune recalibration after a major intervention often takes 8–10 weeks. This is certainly why we administer Low dose antigen therapy or LDA every 2 months!
  • Somatic patterns begin to unwind between weeks 7–9
  • Many chronic symptoms flare or ease on these same rhythms

Nine weeks is not random.

It’s how the body processes change.

When I designed this program, I wanted the container to feel long enough for the nervous system to trust, but short enough to stay grounded in real life.

Nine weeks is that sweet spot.

  • It gives your biology time to soften.
  • It gives your patterns time to surface.
  • It gives your intuition time to speak.
  • It gives your body time to feel safe again.

It allows for the process of unfolding, of unforgetting to take root in you so that you can continue the work after the completion of the 9 weeks with confidence of how to work more deeply on yourself.

Nine Represents Completion Across Traditions, Literally Everywhere

This is where my inner academic and philosopher lights up.

Once I began researching, I realized:

Nine is universal.

From Greece to India to China to the Norse sagas, nine appears at moments of profound transition.

Below are the traditions that align beautifully with the journey of unforgetting.

Ancient Greek Philosophy

Pythagoras called nine the “triad of triads.”

A complete cycle multiplied by itself.

For the Greeks, nine symbolized attainment — the moment when learning becomes embodied.

You don’t learn in nine.

You become in nine.

That’s exactly what this program is.

And we do our work on ourselves and with each other in Trios or Triads, which I hope you will come to love as much as I do!

Hinduism & Vedic Tradition

Nine is everywhere:

  • Navaratri — nine nights of overcoming illusion
  • Nine forms of Durga — nine expressions of the Divine Feminine
  • Navagraha — nine planetary influences shaping destiny
  • 108 mantra repetitions (1+0+8 = 9)

In Vedic philosophy, nine dissolves the ego and returns you to truth.

Unforgetting is exactly that:  dissolving what is false so what is true can emerge.

Buddhism

There are:

  • Nine stages of meditation,
  • Nine levels of consciousness (depending on lineage),
  • Nine virtues of the Buddha,
  • Nine paths of liberation.

Nine represents wisdom finally landing in the body, not theory, but embodiment.

Chinese Medicine & Taoism

This one gave me chills.

In Chinese cosmology, nine is the number of Heaven.

The highest expression of yang energy.

The integration of spirit and form.

Examples:

  • Ancient palaces were built using multiples of nine
  • The Emperor’s robes had nine dragons
  • Taoist internal alchemy uses nine steps toward spiritual refinement
  • Qi transforms through nine stages

Nine is the bridge between the earthly body and the heavenly essence, the exact integration we explore when symptoms become messages.

Kabbalah (Jewish Mysticism)

Kabbalah speaks of nine lower Sefirot involved in human experience.

The tenth Sefirah, the Infinite, stands apart.

But the nine are the journey a soul makes to return to truth.

Nine is the path of integration before revelation.

the enneagram

Sufi & Mystical Christian Roots (The Enneagram)

The Enneagram is built around nine types, each representing a way we lose contact with essence.

The map of healing is moving from the fragmented personality back to the true self.

Nine = the reclaiming of your essential nature.

This is unforgetting in another vocabulary.

Norse Mythology

In Norse tradition:

  • There are nine worlds connected by the world tree
  • Odin hung for nine days to gain wisdom
  • Runes were revealed through a nine-day ordeal

Nine symbolizes initiation through adversity,  the exact structure of healing when symptoms become teachers.  One of my favorite sayings is that, “We learn best through adversity.”  I just love the synergy that runs through all these schools of wisdom.

Celtic and Druid Traditions

Nine appears in:

  • The “Nine Maidens,”
  • The nine waves of purification,
  • The nine doors of perception.

Nine was the threshold between worlds.

Between who you were and who you are becoming.

Transformation that Cannot be Undone

Nine weeks is not random.

It’s how the body processes change.

When I designed this program, I wanted the container to feel long enough for the nervous system to trust, but short enough to stay grounded in real life.

Nine weeks is that sweet spot.

These aren’t poetic ideas, they’re psychological, neurological, and somatic realities.

Nine is the point where the old pattern has finished its cycle.  And the new way of being has taken root.

This arc cannot be compressed.

Not if you want it to work.

Not if you want it to land all the way in the body.

The wisdom of nine is that transformation doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens layer by layer, breath by breath, week by week — until the shift becomes irreversible.

Nine weeks is the precise container that allows this to happen.

Nine is where things complete. And where they begin again.

These aren’t poetic ideas, they’re psychological, neurological, and somatic realities.

Nine is the point where the old pattern has finished its cycle. And the new way of being has taken root.
